Navigating your career in early adulthood can be a wild ride—challenging, confusing, and let's not forget, a bit stressful. Some people might grapple with self-doubt, wondering if they're making the right moves, while others might feel totally paralyzed on what step to take next during a career transition. But fear not! This week, I’ve got a treat for you.

Her Career Journey

My zia (that’s Italian for aunt, btw) Christina is joining us on the podcast this week. For any multi-passionate people out there, you are going to feel so seen when you hear her career journey…

She started off as an aspiring singer but soon dove into the world of marketing and sales. For 11 years, she was the director of operations for a design and marketing company, where she specialized in the production of print materials and websites.

Eventually, she found her way into building a multi-million dollar company, Inspire Play Inc, which designs and builds custom outdoor play and recreation spaces.

7 Career Lessons To Achieve Success

My zia shared so many great lessons and inspirational messages in this episode. At the time, I was really struggling to accept where I was in my career journey. I wanted to do more, but felt like I was playing small.

Here are 7 career lessons she shared to help you feel more inspired in achieving your dreams and take some action!

01. Use your strengths to move you forward.

Christina emphasizes the importance of recognizing and utilizing your unique strengths. Whether it's a knack for organization, a talent for communication, or an eye for design, leveraging what you're naturally good at can propel you forward in your career.

Identifying these strengths early can give you a clear direction and boost your confidence.

02. Put yourself into welcoming opportunities.

“If you associate with someone who is willing to teach you, and you be that sponge, you will come out ahead no matter what.”

Christina's career journey underscores the value of mentorship and being open to learning.

Surround yourself with people who are not only knowledgeable, but also supportive and willing to share their expertise. Being a proactive learner in these environments can significantly advance your career.

03. Don't be fake, be yourself.

Authenticity is key in building meaningful relationships and a fulfilling career. Christina advises against trying to fit into a mold or being someone you're not. Embrace your true self, and let your genuine personality shine through. This authenticity can attract the right opportunities and people into your life.

04. Have a vision.

“Ask yourself – what would I love?”

Having a clear vision of what you want to achieve is crucial. Christina encourages you to dream big and envision your ideal career and life. This vision serves as a roadmap, guiding your decisions and actions toward achieving your goals.

Paired with using your strengths, this union balances our masculine and feminine energies to both work on what you’re good at, and also what you love.

05. Find that foundation.

Life has ups and downs, and you can't rely on anything external to keep you going. You need a good foundation—like a surfboard—to ride the waves in life. Christina talks about the importance of having a strong, internal foundation.

This could be a set of core values, religion, fitness, a supportive network, or a personal passion that keeps you grounded. With this foundation, you can navigate the highs and lows of life and career with resilience and grace.

06. Be mindful of your group of people.

"You are like the 5 people you spend time with. If you want to make more than 100K per year, surround yourself with people who are making 200K per year."

The company you keep can greatly influence your mindset and success. Christina stresses the importance of surrounding yourself with ambitious, positive individuals who inspire and challenge you to grow. Your network should reflect where you want to go, not just where you are.

07. You always have time to change your mind in your career.

You can go to school whenever. You can change career paths, whenever.

Christina's diverse career journey illustrates that it's never too late to pivot. Whether you're considering further education or a completely new career direction, it's important to remember that your career is a marathon, not a sprint. Flexibility and openness to change can lead to unexpected and rewarding opportunities.

Chatting with my zia Christina was truly one of my favourite episodes. Her insights are not only inspiring but also incredibly practical. It was lovely to hear her stories and wisdom, and I’m sure you’ll find her journey as motivational as I did.
