Welcome back to the blog. If you’ve been keeping up with The Twenties Detox, you know that this week we tackled a juicy topic: the desire for money, virality, and fame. It’s something we’ve all thought about at one point or another, especially in our twenties. But how often do we stop to ask ourselves if these things are truly making us happy?

The Ego vs. The Higher Self

First, let’s break down the difference between ego-driven desires and those of our higher self. When our actions are rooted in the ego, we chase after external validations like money, fame, and metrics. These pursuits can lead to temporary highs—think about the rush of getting a viral post or a big pay check—but they also come with inevitable lows and a sense of never being satisfied.

On the flip side, when we focus on what our higher self truly wants, we lead with pleasure, love, and happiness. This kind of success isn’t measured by likes or dollars but by the fulfillment we feel in our hearts.

Why We Chase Ego-Driven Goals

It's natural to want recognition and financial stability. Society often tells us that these are the markers of success. We see influencers living seemingly perfect lives, millionaires flaunting their wealth, and we think, “I want that too.” But what we don’t see are the struggles behind the scenes—the pressure, the burnout, the emptiness that often accompanies these pursuits.

Shifting the Focus to Fulfillment

So, how do we shift our focus from ego to the higher self? Here are a few tips:

  1. Identify Your True Desires: Take time to reflect on what genuinely makes you happy. Is it creating art, helping others, or spending time with loved ones? These are the things that will bring lasting joy.

  2. Set Intentional Goals: Instead of setting goals based on external validation, set ones that align with your values and passions. This way, your journey itself becomes fulfilling.

  3. Practice Gratitude: Regularly acknowledging what you’re grateful for can shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance. It helps you appreciate what you have rather than what you lack.

Final Thoughts

Chasing money, virality, and fame might give us a quick thrill, but it’s not the key to lasting happiness. By focusing on what our higher self truly desires, we can find fulfillment in the journey itself. So, Detoxers, let’s lead with love, pleasure, and happiness and create a life that feels genuinely good.

Stay fabulous and see you next week!
